I want to fly with the birds, run
with the deer,
climb a mountain in early morn.
listen to the music in those hills,
and see a new day being born.
I want to be the first one
thats awake this day,
to hear the quiteness all around.
I want to jump and clap my hand with joy,
for that beauty that i found.
I want the trees to talk to me,
and listen to my song.
tell me how they stay so beautiful,
and how they live so long.
I want the squirrels to chatter as i
walk,
and watch them climb a tree.I know upon this mountain,
Ill feel like these things i see.
I want to touch a soft white cloud,
to see how it would feel.
if its a vision far away.
or if its really real.
Dont tell me to relax all day,
just sit and just watch t.v.
I want to fly high in these lovely clouds,
and be ANOTHER ME.

KHIZA'N aur PIYAAS
( Autumn and Thirst )
khiza'n ki udaas subha mein
sardion ki shaamon mein.....
Aas barhnay lagti hai
un-kahay say jazbon ki
piyaas barhanay lagti hai
baykali udaasi si
baychain kiyey rakhti hai
kissi kay sath ki, Dil ko
tamanna honay lagti hai
yoonhi qadam say qadam mila kar....
kissi kay sath chalnay ko
kissi ka hath thamay....
dheeray say,
Dil ki baat karnay ko,
apna yaqeen dilanay ko
kissi ka yaqeen karnay ko
kissi kay garam hathon ka...
haseen sa lamas panay ko
kissi ki mohabbat bhari ankhoon mein
khud ko khoj laynay ko
kissi ki narm muskurahat mein
khud ko bhool janay koo...
kissi ki mehekti khushboo mein
yoon masroor honay ko
kisi kay Dil mein khud ko
dhondnay ko.... jhaank laynay ko
kisi ki ankhoon ki gehri jheel mein,
Dil kay samander mein....
yaqeen ki lahar pay
aahista say..... dheeray, dheeray say
khawaahish honay lagti hai
Tamanna barhnay lagti hai
Sardiyo'n ki shaamon mein
narm garm jazbon ki
talab barhnay lagti hai
aas barhnay lagti hai
un-kahay jazbon ki
piyaas barhanay lagtti hai

A poem by SAMINA from Karachi, Pakistan, for ABIDI'S UNIVERSE
At Night
at night,at night
I saw you,you were near to me
I felt that you were not happy
Your little laugh,i felt it was not real
Why you were so sad?
At night
I can't live without you
you left your smell, a pretty good smell
When I awoke I felt you really came
But aah! that was my dream
You are so far but near to my heart
( A poem by 13-year old Hira Zahoor )
Thinking of You
It was like love at first sight
but girl I was wrong
I thought, I knew you better
that you wouldnt do me wrong
It started off sweet but ended up sour,
just like the pedals falling off of a flower
I wasted my time thinking of you,
Hoping inside you thought of me too!
You were the first to open my heart,
and you are the last to break it apart
Maybe someday I'll find someone new,
but until my heart heals I'll be thinking of you!

Sea I Am
The tide is rising
As the sea ponders at his pupose.
Never before has
Such a question been asked.
But now he wonders
Really, why do I rise and fall each day?
So he goes to the mountain
And says, "Mighty mountain,
With your peaks so high they
touch the sky,
Why do I have this rising tide?"
The mountain just sits back
And thinks awhile,
Then says," It is good that u have
a tide."
For with out your motion,
Would you be the ocean?"
The sea rolls back
And now begins to ponder this.
"If I were not the ocean,
and I had no tide,
then who would I be??
Then the mighty ocean breeze,
Blew gently across that great sea.
So the sea asked his old friend, the wind,
"Gentle breeze, who blows cross
me,
if I had no tide and I were not the sea,
then who would I be?"
The gentle breeze slows to a crawl,
And wonders why the sea,
The mighty force it is,
Would want to be anything other than the sea.
"Mr.Sea, you have asked me a
puzzling question.
If you were not the sea,
And there were no tides washing along the beach,
Then where would I have to blow?
For all the trees and the mountains
Would hinder me until I was too weak."
So the sea who yet still
Couldn't get an answer
but just another question,
Turned his attention,
And asked the beach,
" Mr. Beach, if I had no tide, and
I were not an ocean,
What do u think I would be?
So the sandy shore of the very wise
beach,
Just sat and said nothing.
After a while, the sea asked again,
" Well Mr. Beach, if I had no
tide,
and I was not the sea, then what,
oh what, do you think I'd be?"
Finally tired of the silly question,
The beach relented with a question of its own.
" Mr. Ocean, if you had no tide,
and you were not
the sea, then simply put, what would I be?"
With that question,
the sea went back out with the tides,
And felt a certain new kind of peace
And just went back to being nothing but the sea!!!

From Your Faith
Lend credence to my screams for justice
Write the tragedy of my subjugation with the ink of my tears
And with my blood satiate the thirst of humanity
Stand, Speak, Defend
Return to me your oaths of allegiance
Return to me my hijab of modesty
Awake, oh Muslim
Your are the dawn of morn,
Awake, by your light
Unravel the darkness of world decadence
Let the ocean of sin recede
Reclaim your honor, my honor
Demand justice on my behalf
Truly, Your Faith, imprisoned, tortured
By Secrecy my fate sealed
By Silence my death pronounced
Transform the sighs of helplessness to
Joyous shouts of victory
Remove the walls of ignorance
Build the Tower of Truth
Issue forth the call of Muslims
And stir the imagination of courage and valor.

I FEEL SAD
Sometimes I feel sad, and I'm
not sure if you understand why
It's not because I'm not happy
with what we've found together
It's not because I don't know
that you'll always care and
that you'll always be with me.
It's not even because we have to
wait awhile for our life together,
because we already share our lives.
But sometimes I just need you
to hold me and comfort me,
just to reassure me that the dream
we share is Real.
And when I feel sad, it's just
my way of letting you know that
I care for you and Love you more than ever before!!!

People and Life
People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a Godsend, and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and it is now time to move on. When people come into your life for a SEASON, it is because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They may bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season. LIFE TIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; those things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person / people (anyway); and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

(A Poem by Sunderban Aim for ABIDI'S UNIVERSE )
Life (and Death) etc.
Life is sacred.
Sacred things are rare.
Life is not,
Life is not sacred.
Life is cheap.
Life is ugly.
Life is eventual death.
Death is inevitable.
Death is a promise.
A Promise is sacred.
Sacred is scarce.
Death is not scarce.
Death is not sacred.
What is Death.?
Death is the transformation of a life into an eternal life.
In short, when we stop breathing, we are dead.
Is death the destination or just a milestone in an eternal journey?
What is eternity?
What is mortality?
Who's I? Who am You?
What are them?
Whom is what?
Sounds scatter in the dark vastness of the universe.
Universe is dark.
Darkness is the rule.
Darkness is lies.
Lies are the rule.
Light is exception.
Light is hope.
Hope is exception.
Light is truth.
Truth is exception.
What is truth?
Why is truth morally right when it's so rare?
Why should we all not lie all the time?
What is a lie?
This whole world is a big lie.
It's all a deception.
Now we see it, now we don't.
River of air.
Ocean of sand.
Dreams and fantasies.
Dreams are real.
Reality is a nightmare.
All is nothing.
And nothing is everything.

A CONFUSED TRAVELLER
By profession I am a
traveller
A traveller independent of choice
I undertake a
difficult journey
The destination of which I know not
And through which I
find myself within a dark tunnel
My footprints illuminate that which I have passed
But blind I am to
what lies ahead
Crouched down
I feel
..I search for a passage to follow
I continue hence
Tis such a
journey that with each day
Is presented with many twists and turns
As well as hurdles
that must be overcome
What obstacles do reveal themselves this day?
Lo! Before me I feel
two paths
Two paths
neither of which I can observe
But only one of
which I must pursue
In this darkness I only sense what may lie ahead
Through ears, nose
and sense of touch
This path here to my left
From it I smell the
fresh
.invigorating fragrance of blossoming roses
How they attract me so
Like a bee to nectar
How heavenly it would be to travel along this path
Lined with rolling
beds of roses
As I pass
.I would feel
The soft, gentle,
silk-like petals brush against my finger tips
The radiant colour and subtle dance of those pretty whorls
Mounted upon
tall
..delicate stems
Would emit a most harmonious melody
Which to my ardent ears would bring such contentment
But wait
.If
these gentle flowers
In their infinite splendour
Were to possess the
sharpest of thorns
That would prick this benign admirer
So deep
.And
leave ugly
hopeless scars
.
What then?
Look here to my
right beholds itself another path
What lies ahead here?
Aah
I smell
again
My nose does tell a tale of a mellow scent
A sweet aroma
That of ripened
fruits
Wait! I am told of peaches
The juice of which I
would long to have trickle
Slowly
Smoothly on this thirsty tongue
Which would overcome
this feeble soul
With sheer satisfaction
My ears would
perceive a most mellifluous tune
It would be the music of eternal joy
To which my heart
would merrily dance
Would then I find an Eden on Earth?
But Lo! Once again
overcome
With apprehension I find myself
What if the
sweetness of these delightful fruits
Were to die away
Fade away with time?
Where would I be
then?
In the pursual of an empty
meaningless journey
What
discontent
What loss of aim
What lack of desire
Would import itself into this spirit here!
So here I find
myself fixed
perplexed
Ahead lie these two turns of destiny
I know not the
outcome of either
What should I do? Where should I advance?
Is there not a single soul to aid me here?
Through this complex
predicament
I strive to find that lofty beacon
That would throw
light on these two paths
And allow me to make a reasoned decision
On my lips is a prayer
That I would choose that course
..that avenue
Which would
encompass a journey
..a sacred journey
That would take me
.that would guide me
Ultimately onto that Absolute Right Path

WOMAN
(Posted By Khalid )
if you kiss her,you are not a
gentleman
if you dont ,you are not a man
if you praise her,she thinks you are lying
if you dont , you are good for nothing
if you agree to all her likes, she is abusing
if you dont, you are not understanding
if you make romance, you are an "experienced man"
if you dont you are half a man
if you visit her too often, she thinks it is boring
if you dont, she accuses you of double crossing
if you are well dressed, she says you are a playboy
if you dont ,you are a dull boy
if you are jealous ,she says its bad
if you dont, she thinks you do not love her
if you attempt a romance, she says you didn,t respect her
if you dont she thinks you do not like her
if you are a minute late, she complains its hard to wait
if she is late,she says "that's a girl's way"
if you visit another, she accuses you of being a heel
if she is visited by another,"oh its natural,we are girls"
if you kiss her once in a while.she professes you are cold
if you kiss her too many, she yells that you are taking advantage
if you fail to help her in crossing the street, you lack ethics
if you do,she thinks its just one of the man's tactics
if you stare at others, she accuses you of flirting
if she is stared by others, she says that they are just admiring
if you talk ,she wants you to listen
if you listen, she wants you to talk
Oh God ! you created this creature called "WOMAN"
So simple ,yet so complex
So weak,yet so powerful
So confusing,yet so desirable

All About Nothing
by
Rehan Rizvi
The subject of Nothingology is about nothing. Literally, its the study
of nothing. Nothing is made up of two words: "no" and "thing" or
no-thing.
Nothing is inversely related to the presence of anything
and
is directly related to the absence of everything.
Nothing is a very important part of our lives. We sometimes talk about
nothing, we often think about nothing, and most of the time we eat and
drink nothing. The main cause of most of the deaths this year was
nothing. History is the testament to the fact that many wars were fought
over nothing. Space consists of mostly nothing. When we look up in the
sky on a dark, chilly, winter night, nothing is there to comfort us. In
our sleep, we dream about anything and everything, and yet, most of the
time we wake up only to remember nothing. We live most of our lives for
nothing. It is a custom in eastern cultures that when you do someone a
favor, expect nothing in return. Nothing is such an interesting concept,
and yet when we come to think about it, we consider everything else
before we discuss nothing. We even say that anything is better than
nothing.
There's a magic in nothing. When people possess nothing, they don't care
about anything. Many revolutions were caused simply because people could
lose nothing. Even politics shares nothing. Many politicians talk about
nothing in particular. And politicians are most happy when people do
nothing.
But nothing has its downside. We get bored when nothing happens for a
period of time. Some people get nasty when they have nothing to do. It
is said that the minds of those people who have nothing to do can become
the workshop of the devil. That's why people are advised to do anything
to avoid doing nothing. Thus, nothing is the basis for most of the
things we do. We also must not do nothing if we want this world to
become a better place to live.
One last thing, whenever something bad happens to you, always remember nothing.
Author's Note: I had absolutely nothing to do when I wrote this.
